When not to massage

•A very lame horse that has not seen a vet
•A horse suffering from bacterial infections such as abscesses
•Infectious diseases
• Initial acute inflamation or acute trauma- massage can help at the chronic stage at around 3 days.
•Skin conditions that are contagious or may be spread with massage
•Pregnancy, colic or viral disease
•A horse suffering from shock/ exhaustion or generally unwell.
